About buggies
A dune buggy is a recreational vehicle with large wheels, and wide tires, designed for use on sand dunes, beaches, or desert recreation. It is called a "Beach Buggy" in the United Kingdom, Ireland and many other English speaking countries. The design is usually a modified vehicle and engine mounted on an open chassis. The modifications usually attempt to increase the 3x power-to-weight ratio by either lightening the vehicle or increasing engine power or both.
The first buggies were built based on the Volkswagen Beetle. The model is nicknamed bug; "buggy" is short for bug.
The buggies are designed primarily for people who enjoy driving and/or design of this type of vehicle. With its large wheels are usually used in coastal areas and deserts, where you can jump and move freely among the many dunes. They can also be employed to work in the field, when provided with a reinforced suspension. Its use has spread between different special units of the military.
Generally, the layout of the engine is at the rear wheel. This configuration gives oversteer attitudes. Currently they are creating models with 4-wheel drive versions and 2 or 4 places.
