San Sebastián-Donostia tour itinerary
- Kursaal: The architect of this building was Rafael Moneo. He designed two cubes made of translucent glass as they were “two beached rocks”. The Kursaal is the result of a modern and innovative building to house congresses and cultural events.
- Brecha market: This market is located in the Old Quarter of San Sebastian. There are two markets housed in historical buildings, with a space connecting the two.
- San Sebastian city council and Alderdi Eder Garden: This building was built up in 1887 at the Garden of Alderdi-Eder to house the main casino. It was disused as a casino after the ban on gambling in 1924. On January 20, 1945, the council moved into this building.
- La Concha and Ondarreta beaches:
La concha is a beach in the Bay of La Concha in San Sebastian. It is
the most famous urban beach in Europe. In Ondarreta people play
volleyball, beach-tennis and football. It is located between Monte
Igeldo and the Palacio Miramar Gardens.
- Peine del Viento sculpture:
Created by the sculptor Eduardo Chillida and architect Luis Peña,
this sculpture is a beautiful profound dialogue between art and the
landscape.
- Igeldo mountains views: you are going to enjoy the most fantastic views of the city from Igeldo mountain and no doubt you are going to take a lot of photos!
- Miramar Palace: With one of the best views of the city, Miramar park is a stop you mustn´t miss when you do our route around the coast of San Sebastian.
- Paseo de Francia: With its French style mansions, it is one of the most romantic places in the city.
- Train Station: This station was inaugurated in 1864 after the arrival of the railways to San Sebastian. Its metallic roof being designed by Biarez, apprentice of Alexandre Gustave Eiffel.
- Tabakalera museum: This building was one of the most important buildings in the past, employing a lot of people. Now it is a big museum where you can find different kinds of contemporary displays.
- Maria Cristina bridge: This bridge was inaugurated on january 20, 1905. The bridge has four obelisks, copies of the Alexander bridge in Paris.
- Maria Cristina Hotel: This building is from the Belle Époque of San Sebastián. Here stayed Maria Cristina, the queen of Spain. Nowadays it is a perfect five star hotel to take a rest in San Sebastian. During the international film festival all the stars stay here.
- Victoria Eugenia Theatre: From 1912 this building has been a very important cultural stage of the city. It is one of the most beautiful buildings in town and it is host to musicals, plays and other cultural events.
